Safari in Corbett National Park
A conservationist’s heritage
Aptly called the ‘The Land of Roar and Trumpet’ this forest of flowing rivers, blue waters and Sal – dappled glades, was christened after the famous Colonel Jim Corbett. There is something absolutely magical about being in tiger and elephant country where unexpected sights and sounds present themselves at almost every turn.
The Corbett National Park is an excellent and largely inviolate specimen of the rich Sal and mixed woodland that spans outer Himalayas. The topography of the park is varied and interesting with ravines, plateaus, marshy depressions and grasslands. The sparkling river Ramganga is the life source of the park. Because of its rich biogeographic diversity, the park is a natural heaven for flora and fauna of the plains, the sub mountainous region and high altitude areas and that is why Corbett is home of 110 species of trees, 51 species of shrubs, 27 species of climbers, 37 species of grasses and bamboos, over 50 mammals, 580 Birds and 25 reptile species.
Where in the world you have Goral and Gharial – together?

MAHSEER ANGLING
Mahseer is a freshwater fish that is found a plenty in the waters of the Hill Rivers of Uttaranchal, India. This scaly fish can grow quite big and shows more sport for its size than a salmon and is thus considered to be the best sport fish in the world.
Fishing for Mahseer is great fun as this fish grabs bait quickly especially if the bait is live fish, fly, plug or spoon. Etymology of Mahseer suggests the word could mean a fish with “lion’s gameness” and “fish par excellence”. The commonly sighted Mahseer on the waters at the Corbett National Park are the Goonch, Silver Mahseer and the Black Mahseer. A few essentials that you must carry in your rucksack when you go angling for Mahseer are straw hats, sunglasses, keds, waders, antiseptic creams, insect repellents, windcheaters, gloves and suntan.
Our trained angler guide will teach you the nuances of angling the mighty Mahseer.
Angling on the Kosi River:
The Kosi River flows by the hotel property just adjacent to our restaurant. The river abounds with myriad fishes during season and providing good angling opportunities for guests. One can expect to angle the mighty mahaseer besides other game fishes like the rohu, eel and pathar chatta (small variety of cat fish).
GUIDED NATURE WALKS
The guided nature walks takes you along the river bed of the Kosi River and through beautiful Sal forests. Along the trail one crosses a suspension bridge over the Kosi River, built during the British times. The trail also takes one to the ancient temple of Garjia. This temple named after the deity Garjia Devi, is built on a huge rock in the midst of river Kosi. The temple dedicated to Goddess Sherawali is visited by thousands of devotees from different parts of the state. A large fair is held here on Kartik Poornima.
A trained naturalist who accompanies you on the nature walk will give you information on the local flora and fauna and the culture and traditions of the area.
