About Hyatt

Jay Pritzker in 1957 founded Hyatt Hotel after he purchased the Hyatt House motel close to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over a decade, Jay Pritzker and Donald Pritzker worked together in tandem with other Pritzker family business interests, expanded the company into a North American management and hotel ownership firm, which became a public company in 1962.

Hyatt International was formed in 1968 and subsequently became a separate public company. Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation went private by the Pritzker family business interests in 1979 and 1982, respectively. On December 31, 2004, Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation, were consolidated under - Hyatt Hotels Corporation, a single entity.

Hyatt was among the first international hotel brands to enter India in 1980 when its subsidiary signed a management agreement for Hyatt Regency Delhi, which opened in 1983. Over the last three decades, Hyatt has 20 open properties in India across its portfolio of brands, in key markets including Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hampi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Gurgaon, Mumbai, and Pune.
