Puttaparthi is a highly revered pilgrim site as it was the abode of Sathya Sai Baba - the reincarnation of Sai Baba. It houses the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram meaning 'Abode of the highest peace' which was built by Baba himself. The walls of the mandir showcase three colours blue, yellow and pink for "communicating the message of the harmony of intellect, spirit and heart respectively". The ashram has the Chaitanya Jyoti, a museum of religions of the world, a hospital, an auditorium, various mandirs and the Sri Sathya Sai University.
