Jammu has a subtropical climate with very hot weather in summers and cold in winters. The temperatures in summers i.e May to August can rise up to a maximum of 45 degrees Celsius where as in the month of June and July it receives a high amount of rainfall.
In the south of Jammu it is typically monsoonal, though the region is sufficiently far west to average 40 to 50 mm (1.6 to 2 inches) of rain per months between January and March. Jammu in hot season is very hot and can reach up to 40 °C (104 °F) whilst in July and August with very heavy though erratic rainfall that occurs with monthly extremes of up to 650 milli-metres (25.5 inches).
In the month of September, rainfall declines, by October conditions are hot but extremely dry, with minimal rainfall and temperatures of around 29 °C (84 °F).
