Tura is a city located in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, India. It is located at the foothills of the Tura Hills and right below the Tura Peak. It is at a distance of about 40 km from the state capital Shillong and about 200 km from Guwahati in Assam.
The nearest airport is Umroi airport in Shillong, which is about 35 km away but it has very limited flights to Kolkata only. The nearest major airport is in Guwahati at about 205 km away. It has good connectivity with the major cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Aizawl, Agartala, Imphal etc. Pawan Hans helicopter service is also available from Guwahati and Shillong.
Tura has no railway connectivity. The nearest railway station is in Guwahati, which is about 200 km away. Guwahti railway station is connected to the major railheads in India.
Tura is connected to the cities of Shillong and Guwahati by national highway NH-40. Day time Sumo service and Overnight buses are available from Guwahati to Tura.
